MEET THE STAFF

All personnel at Redeemer Child Care Center meet the requirements established by the State of Maryland for working with children in child care centers. The staff/child ratio follows these same guidelines and is dependent upon the age of each group of children. All staff applicants meet with the Director and Pastor and must be committed Christians before being hired by the Redeemer Child Care Center Board of Directors.

Ms. Delores, Director

Delores holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education and a certificate of completion in Child Care Management. She has worked with children ages 6 weeks through 12 years old. She has been the Director of RCCC since August 1998 and loves her job!

Delores and her husband, Walter Sr., have twin daughters, Deidra and Dionne, and a son, Walter, Jr. Delores has two wonderful grandsons – Kevin II (age 4) and Daniel (age 2).
Delores attends From the Heart Church Ministries in Temple Hills, MD. She teaches Children Bible Study for ages 5-12. Delores’ desire is that all children, within her realm of influence, are safe, nurtured and know that Jesus is always there for them. To her, it is an honor and a privilege to be an “Ambassador For Christ.” She enjoys listening to Christian music and reading. Email: delores@rcccbowie.org

Ms. Barbara, Music Teacher

Barbara is a member of Church of the Redeemer where she sings in the choir, facilitates in a small group Fellowship/Bible Study (including many RCCC Staff) and serves on the Church Council. Barbara sang with the Chesapeake Choral for 13 years and currently sings with the Bowie Senior Chorale. She was involved with local musical theater for 20 years. Her interests include ballroom dancing and reading. Barbara has two adult children, Lori and Ken. Lori and her husband Doug have 3 children, Zachary-17, Jessica-14, and Amanda-13. Ms. Brooke, Part-Time 4 Year Old Teacher

This is Brooke’s 2nd year here at Redeemer. She teaches the Part-Time 4 year old class. She is currently going to college for Elementary Education. Brooke’s attends Mid Atlantic Community Church in Crofton. She spends her free time working out at Sport Fit and hanging out with her friends. Ms. Cindy, 3 Year Old Teacher

Cindy has been working at RCCC for 3 years now and really enjoys it. Each new year brings new personalities and challenges. She enjoys the freedom she has to incorporate Christ in her lesson plans. She enjoys photography, music and the outdoors. She likes to incorporate her hobbies with the children in her care. Also Cindy is enjoying helping to raise her niece and nephew. Ms. Deanna, Book Keeper

Deanna graduated from Bowie High School, then went on to RETS Computer Engineering School. She was a residential Real Estate Agent for two years, and then took an Office Manager Course at CompuClub Center in Gaithersburg. She has been the Administrative Assistant at RCCC since March, 1998. Deanna’s immediate family includes her husband, John and four wonderful children, Tim 12, Julia 10, Kenny 6, and Rita 4. Deanna and her family attend St. Pius X Catholic Church. She loves new challenges and learning/playing on the computer. She also enjoys foosball, softball, bowling and indoor soccer, all of which she plans to play again once the children get older. Ms. Filipina, Teacher Assistant

Mrs. Bruce is a mother of four grown children and a grandmother of seven, ages 1 – 12 years old. She lives with her son and his family in Bowie. Mrs. Bruce is from the Philippines and has been here since 1992. She worked in Fairfax Co. Public School and Arlington Co. Public schools as a substitute assistant teacher for many years. She enjoys cooking and sewing. She attends Hope to You Community Church in Bowie where she serves as the Usher Coordinator and Sunday School Teacher. Email: filipina@rcccbowie.org

Ms. Idalia, 4 Year Old Teacher

Idalia was born in Panama and studied Social Communication for two and a half years at the University of Panama. She worked at the Pan-American Health Organization for 11 years. After coming to the United States in 1990, she worked with children of various ages and cultural backgrounds. Idalia continues to have friendly communication with all the people whom she has worked with until today.

Idalia has been continuously learning how to work with children and give the best that she has every day, so that they can achieve their best. In 2002, Idalia studied Early Childhood Education at the University of Maryland and received a Childhood Development Associate Certificate.

Idalia has a wonderful family: her husband, who is Cuban-American and two beautiful sons, 12 and 9 years old. She is grateful to God for allowing her the opportunity to work at Redeemer and for her pleasant co-workers. She teaches Spanish to all of the preschoolers. Mr. Joseph, Teacher's Aide

Joseph is a junior attending Eleanor Roosevelt High School. As the newest staff member of RCCC, he enjoys doing the same things he enjoyed while attending RCCC multiple years ago as a child. Joseph is an excellent student who enjoys upper level sciences. He has attended the Church of Redeemer for his entire life and wishes to share with others the effect it has had on his life. Ms. Kathy, 2nd - 6th Grade Group Leader, Part-Time 3 Year Old Teacher

Kathy is the mother of 2 sons, Quentin and Jameel. She is engaged to be married in the next year. Through this union with Michael, she will be blessed with a daughter, Lemekia. Kathy has worked in daycare for the past 10 years. Prior to that, she ran an at home daycare. Kathy is a member of Gospel Ark Temple Bibleway Church. She has worshipped there since 1990. Before that she attended Biggers AME Church in her home town of Manning, South Carolina. Currently she is a member of the Youth/Young Adult Club and Choir, Boy’s Night Out Club, Van Drivers Group, and Victory in Praise Dance Ministry. Kathy came on board with RCCC in October of 2003. Ms. Krystal, Teacher's Aide

Krystal is a 20 year old graduate from Southern High School, class of 2004. She studied Child Development all four years of High School and has completed the 90 hour Child Care Certification requirements.
Krystal’s hobbies are making scrapbooks, pillows, and blankets. Krystal loves children and really enjoys working with the children here at RCCC. This is Krystal’s second year at RCCC. She plans on becoming a teacher in the near future. Email: krystal@rcccbowie.org

Ms. Mercy, Administrative Assistant

Mercy graduated from Nyack College, NY and has a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education, Minor in Music. She has been teaching Sunday School for over 15 years and has taught in Fairfax Co. Public School for 2 years. This is her 4th year with RCCC. She is excited to start teaching Music to the Schoolagers this fall 2006. Mercy attends Hope to You Community Church and serves as the Sunday School Coordinator. Mercy was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. She is married to a wonderful Filipino man and has three beautiful children, Rachel Joy – 7, Angela Faith – 3, and Jeremy – 2 . She enjoys working here at RCCC with her mother-in-law, Filipina Bruce. Ms. Michelle E., 4 Year Old Teacher

Michelle has been with Redeemer for six years now. She has been working in the Child Care Field for 17 years. She has received her 90 hrs certificate and 45 hours School-Age certificate at Prince George’s Community College. She has also received certificates in Infant Care, and Food, Sanitation & Nutrition from Montgomery College. Her continuing education classes include Communicating with parents, 50 ways of communicating with children without yelling, how to work with children with ADD, and many more. She believes that working with children is her true career not just a job. She can truly say that she loves her job.

Michelle’s immediate family includes her husband, James of 14 years and 4 beautiful girls (Janice - 13, Ivy – 11, DieDre – 9, and Sky – 4). In her spare time, when she gets it, she enjoys crafts, cooking, party planning, family night, and ceramics. Ms. Michelle S., Senior Staff Floater

Michelle has been with RCCC for one year now. In the past year she has moved to Annapolis and adopted a kitten. She also has taken up jazzercise. Michelle attends Hope Lutheran Church in Clinton, MD. She has been a member of this church for 30 years. Michelle works for Wal-Mart in Bowie on several evenings. She enjoys spending time with her twin niece, Sydney and nephew, Kyle. Mr. Quentin, Teacher's Aide

Quentin is a junior attending Bowie High School. He is new to the RCCC team as a staff member, but has been volunteering for the past year. He enjoys working with the children. Quentin has been a member of the Gospel Ark Temple Bible Way Church for 15 years. He is active in the Youth and Young Adult Choir Club and Sound Room Ministry. Ms. Ramona, Kindergarten - 1st Grade Group Leader

Ramona is originally from Ramway, New Jersey. She has 4 daughters, Shavon - 20, Kenya 18, Ciara –16, and Makeisha –13. Ramona and her family currently live in Laurel, MD and have been there for 5 years. Aside from taking care of her own girls, Ramona enjoys taking care of the children she had in her own Childcare business from 1996-2000. She also worked at other daycare facilities from 2000 until she came aboard to RCCC last year. Ramona’s hobbies are reading, singing, and spending quality time with her daughters. Mr. Walter, Substitute

Walter has worked at RCCC for several years. He is currently working for METRO during the day, but is a substitute teacher in the afternoons. Walter attends From the Heart Church Ministries in Temple Hills, Maryland. He likes to play basketball, video games and hang out with friends. Walter is a big guy with a big heart for the children.
