OPERATING
POLICIES
Hours of Operation
Redeemer Child Care Center opens at 7:00AM and closes
at 6:00PM. Staff cannot accept children into the Center
prior to 7:00AM. Doors are locked promptly at 6:00PM.
Arrival and Departure
Children are expected to be escorted by an adult into
the building and taken to a classroom and received by
the staff member of the Center. Children are required
to stay with a staff person until an adult authorized
picks up the child from the staff person. Written notification
or a phone call is required if someone other than the
designated person on the Emergency Form will pick up your
child. There is a daily attendance sheet on the table
by the front entrance. Your child is to be signed in and
out with times and a signature.
Holidays
Redeemer Child Care Center will be closed on Federal Holidays.
Tuition payments are expected in full, even though the
Center is closed for holidays.
Snow/Icy Days
These policies in effect for inclement weather:
When the Federal Government is closed, RCCC is
closed. If the Federal government is delayed,
RCCC may be delayed also as this is an indication that
the roads are hazardous. If the government closes early
during the day, the Center will close early and we will
contact the parents. Please make arrangements to have
your child picked up as soon as possible in inclement
weather. The safety of the children and staff are always
a priority. Please note that the Center may be closed
at the discretion of the Director.
Childcare: In inclement weather, when
Prince George’s County Schools are closed or delayed
for opening, RCCC may open one hour late at 8:00AM for
all children whether school-age or preschool. Safety is
a priority. We need to take precautions to assure that
the roads as well as the center’s parking lot and
sidewalks are safe for the staff, children and parents.
You can call the office at 6:30AM to receive an updated
message on delayed openings or closings.
Part-time Pre-school Classes: When both
public schools and Grace Schools are closed, there will
be no part-time class for that day. When there is a two-hour
delay for Prince George’s Schools, the Part-time
classes will have class as scheduled, beginning at 9:15AM.
If there is any question about the opening or closing
of RCCC, feel free to call the Center at (301) 464-6284
before leaving home. We will have a current, updated voice
mail with the status of the center by 6:30AM.
Outdoors
Play
The Maryland Health Department requires children in day
care to go outside two times each day—ideally, morning
and afternoon, weather permitting. It is our intent that
children go outside regularly for fresh air and exercise.
Children should be properly dressed for outdoor play according
to the weather. It is helpful to dress your child in layers
of clothing.
Rest Periods
Redeemer Child Care Center is obligated by child care
regulations for group child care centers to provide appropriate
rest periods for the children. Your child is not expected
to sleep, but is asked to lie quietly. Rest period occurs
between 12:30pm and 2:30pm. In the event that public schools
are closed, the school-agers are not required to participate
in this rest period, but to participate in a quiet curriculum.
Individual mats are provided by the Center. Other bedding
supplies must be provided from home: fitted crib sheet,
small blanket, small pillow and/or “cuddly.”
Vacations
A child enrolled at the Center will be allowed a maximum
of (2) week’s vacation for the School Year (September
– June) without paying the weekly tuition fee if
your child is absent. Your account will automatically
be charged unless a Vacation Request Form is received
by the Administration. Accounts must
be paid up to date for vacation time to be granted.
Food and Nutrition
Lunch: Children must bring their own lunch from home.
Plan lunches that do not need to be
refrigerated or heated. Please think nutrition when planning
your child’s lunch. The
Center provides milk with lunch.
Snacks: Nutritional morning and afternoon snacks are planned
and provided by the Center. A
monthly snack menu is posted in the hallway.
Birthday
Parties
Parents may bring a special treat to celebrate their child’s
birthday. Please notify your child’s teacher in
advance. Most parties are at 3:00 p.m. in place of afternoon
snack.
Parent Involvement
and Communicating with Parents
We
have an open-door policy at RCCC. This means that parents
are always welcome. We value the opportunity to get to
know our parents.
Please let us know when you are pleased or displeased
about something.
Open communication is a key ingredient in an effective,
growing year for your child. Stay in touch with us as
we stay in touch with you.
